Things You'll Need:

- Marker
- Mask
- Barrel plug
-
Step 1
Learn the rules if you have never
played paintball. Find out what type of game you will be playing and read up online about it or ask someone who has played before what the rules are. Be aware that each paintball site will have rules specific to their facility. Know what those rules are and follow them. -
Step 2
Familiarize yourself with paintball lingo. Your paintball gun is called a "marker," a "paint check" is when an official or another player inspects you for hits. "Tanks" are the CO2 cylinders that power the paintball gun and "wiping" refers to wiping off a paintball hit before an official sees it. Wiping will cause elimination from the game.

Step 3
Outfit yourself in proper clothing. Cover your skin as much as possible. Paintballs hurt when they hit bare skin. Wear clothing that offers protection but isn't too bulky to move in. Tournament play usually limits a player to 2 layers of clothing. Any more than that causes the paintballs to bounce off the clothing.

Step 4
Get the equipment you need to play. You can rent paintball equipment from many paintball facilities. They will provide you everything you need to play. If you are bringing your own, a marker, barrel plug and mask are absolute essentials. Some facilities do not let you bring your own paintballs. Find out; if they don't provide them bring your own.
