Things You'll Need:
- Broadband Internet connection
- Computer based recording system
- Instrument(s)
- Microphone
- Headphones
- Multi-track editing software
-
Step 1
Open an account with an online collaboration site (see Resources). Be sure to fill out the profile information, including your favorite composers, who inspires you and what type of music you enjoy. This makes it easier to connect with others on the website.
-
Step 2
Browse the website for members that have similar musical interests and music that you are interested in collaborating on.
-
Step 3
Work on collaboration projects started by other members to get a feel for how the website works and the collaboration community comes together. Download the tracks and make your creative revisions in multi-track editing software, using instruments where applicable.
-
Step 4
Upload your contribution to the music collaboration project of choice.
-
Step 5
Start your own music collaboration project by uploading your tracks, lyrics and chord charts. Write an attractive and detailed description of the project so that you can easily attract other contributors.
-
Step 6
Check forums, chats and/or comments on a daily basis for the projects you participate in to get feedback on your work. Take any criticism constructively and learn from it.
