Left-handed people can golf just as well as right-handed people, but certain adjustments have to be made to the average stance and swing. Unless they're fortunate enough to find a left-handed golf instructor, lefties need to imagine their golf instructor as their mirror image and follow the instructions in that manner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get into the proper stance. Place the left foot forward. Keep the posture held loosely in the correct form. Posture is one of the key elements of a good golf swing.

  2. Step 2

Key the swing to the 9 o'clock position for the forward swing. Grip the club with the right hand. Place your left hand over your right hand in a comfortable position. When the club reaches the 9 o'clock position the body must be in the correct stance and posture for maximum effectiveness.

  3. Step 3

Bring the golf club back square to the target upon reaching the 9 o'clock position.

  4. Step 4

Keep the hips a little open upon impact with the ball. Left-handed golfers have to place left foot straight and the right foot a little to the right.

  5. Step 5

Transfer the weight to the front foot, which would be the left foot for left-handed golfers, as the forward swing progresses downward.

  6. Step 6

Point the left toes up in the air slightly when you get to the 3 o'clock position in the forward swing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember the golf instructions from a right-handed instructor are a mirror image for the left-handed golfer.
