You want your eyeliner to be lighter in the day than at night because in the daylight, your makeup is more noticeable. As night falls, your eyeliner needs to be darker to be noticed. Keep the following tips in mind to quickly apply eyeliner that will work from day to night.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Light blue or white eyeliner
  1. Step 1

Put on long-lasting eyeliner in the morning. When you apply eyeliner from day to night, begin with a long-lasting eyeliner in the morning such as L'Oreal's Contour Resist Long Lasting eyeliner, so your eyeliner will last all day and into the night without having to be completely reapplied.

  2. Step 2

Choose eyeliner in light blue or white. When you apply these colors to your eyelid rims it will make your eyes look big, bright and alert.

  3. Step 3

Line the interior of your lower eye rim in light blue or white. Your eye rim is the area of skin between your eyelashes and your eyeball. To do this, pull the lower lid down very gently and carefully run the eyeliner on the inside of your lower eye rim. Apply this liner only underneath your pupils and not the entire length of your lower eye rim.

  4. Step 4

Blend the light blue or white eyeliner you have chosen. In order to achieve natural-looking bright eyes, use an eyeliner blender to gently blend your chosen bright colored eyeliner. Use a soft touch so you don't end up wiping it all off.

  5. Step 5

Touch up your eyeliner in the evening. The eyeliner you have been wearing all day has more than likely faded or worn off. Reapply it in the evening on both your lower and upper eyelids with the same color you applied in the morning so it looks fresh.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always use quality eyeliner when lining the inside of your eye. A little bit goes a long way with this eyeliner because you're not applying that much. Pick brands that are tested by ophthalmologists to ensure the pencils won't irritate the eye.
  • Never use your finger to blend eyeliner on your inner eye rims. This can lead to infection and irritation, even if you have thoroughly washed your hands. Also, you run the risk of scratching your eye with your fingernail.
