Doing a springboard back suicide dive is for those who think doing a sailor's dive is for wimps. If someone can dive to the front without extending your arms, why not do it from the back and from a springboard.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Walk to the edge of the pool or the end of the board as you do a springboard back suicide dive.

  2. Step 2

Turn your back to the pool. Stand on the edge so that your heels are off the edge of the pool's edge or the edge of the board. You'll find that in order not to tip over backwards prematurely, you'll have to keep your weight on the balls of your feet.

  3. Step 3

Allow yourself to fall slowly backwards when you are prepared.

  4. Step 4

Push off the edge of the pool or the board and arch your back as you tilt your head back. Look toward the surface of the water as you do a springboard back suicide dive.

  5. Step 5

Keep your hands by your side as you enter the water and toes well pointed. Don't tilt your head back as you enter the water. Try to image that your entire body is as straight as an arrow as you enter the water while you do a springboard back suicide dive.

  6. Step 6

Be very careful as you do this dive. Because you are going backward, it's a little more challenging that diving forward—you will not be able to see the water as easily. Plus, since you aren't diving with your hands raised about your head, you have to be extra careful to be aware of your body position as you do a springboard back suicide dive.
