Making a mineral tinted moisturizer is easy and affordable. Tinted moisturizers using minerals also have an advantage over store-bought tinted moisturizers because they can be fully customized to your skin's needs and color. Simply use your regular moisturizer and a mineral makeup to make your own mineral tinted moisturizer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mineral makeup
  • SPF moisturizer
  • Beauty spatula
  1. Step 1

Buy a small beauty spatula and good quality mineral makeup that matches your skin tone. Many mineral makeup companies offer a wide array of shades from which to choose, so make your selection carefully.

  2. Step 2

Open your moisturizer and mineral makeup containers.

  3. Step 3

Squeeze a quarter-sized worth of SPF moisturizer into the palm of your hand.

  4. Step 4

Use the spatula to scoop out some mineral makeup from its container. It's up to you how much mineral makeup you want to add to the moisturizer, though a popular amount of minerals when making a tinted moisturizer can range from ¼ to ½ tsp. Add more mineral makeup to get extra coverage and color into your tinted moisturizer or add less to keep the coverage sheer.

  5. Step 5

Put the mineral makeup on top of the moisturizer in palm of your hand.

  6. Step 6

Mix the mineral makeup and moisturizer with your spatula until the particles dissolve completely.

  7. Step 7

Dip two fingers into the new, tinted moisturizer and apply it to your face in the usual manner. Circular, gentle strokes allows for even coverage and stretches your moisturizer across your face.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a bit of powdered bronzer to your tinted moisturizer during the summer to make your skin look like it's been in the sun.
  • You should not have trouble incorporating your mineral foundation with your moisturizer. If you find that your mineral makeup is difficult to dissolve in the moisturizer, you probably bought a poor quality mineral makeup. Consider trying another brand if this occurs.
  • You may need to use concealer with your mineral tinted moisturizer to cover imperfections. Apply a concealer that's a little lighter than your skin to your face before adding your tinted moisturizer over it.
  • Always wash your beauty spatula with soap before using it again.
