1
Grab your favorite hoodie, or buy a new one that you want to reinvent. Purchase coordinating material, or just take an old shirt out of the closet. Don't spend a lot of money on your first hoodie makeover, save your cash to make one more fabulous once you're an expert.

2
Cut out the back of the shirt. Cut up each of the side seams and across the yoke on the back of the shirt.

3
Turn the sweatshirt inside out. Fold the hood in half, from top to bottom, along the seam. Lay the shirt material on the hood, and cut it so that it is just larger than the hood. Cut two smaller pieces of material if your shirt back is not large enough to line the entire hood by itself.
-
4
Fold the edges of the shirt material over 1/4 inch towards the wrong side of the material. Press the fold with a hot iron.
-
5
Line up the pressed edges of the shirt with the edges of the hood. Use a needle and thread to sew the shirt to the inside of the hood. Sew through just one layer of the sweat shirt so that your thread does not show on the outside. Use iron on adhesive if you do not know how to sew. Follow the manufacturer instructions.
-
6
Use extra pieces of material to line the pockets of the hoodie, using the same techniques.
-
7
Add ribbon and bead embellishments if you are a girl.
