Scrapbooking allows you to preserve your family's day-to-day activities for posterity. Sometimes these memories also include memorabilia, the tidbits you collect to commemorate the occasion. Design a pocket page for your scrapbook to stash the notes, swatches and souvenirs that help you remember the moments.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cardstock
  • Patterned paper
  • Paper trimmer
  • Double-stick tape
  • Foam tape
  • Embellishments
  • Library pockets
  • Envelopes
  • Fabric, mesh or textured paper
  • Brads or eyelets
  1. Step 1

Choose a sheet of cardstock in the size and color that coordinates with your current album or project.

  2. Step 2

Select a second sheet of cardstock or patterned paper that matches or complements the first. Use a paper trimmer to cut it to the desired pocket size. Simply cutting it in half will give you a pocket large enough to store cards, notes, brochures and postcards.

  3. Step 3

Embellish the pocket with stickers, rubber-stamped images, decorative rub-ons, ribbon, paper flowers, photos or text describing the pocket's contents.

  4. Step 4

Adhere the pocket to the background page by applying a thin line of double-stick tape along the bottom and sides. Press it onto the scrapbook layout. The top will remain open, allowing you to slip the memorabilia inside. Affix the pocket with dimensional foam tape if you have a lot of memorabilia to store.

  5. Step 5

Create quick and easy pockets for smaller items by affixing a library pocket, credit card envelope or coin envelope to the scrapbook page with double-stick tape. Use them to store coins from vacations abroad, receipts or locks of hair from a baby's first haircut, for example. (See Resources)

  6. Step 6

Add dimension and texture by creating pockets with fabric, mesh, dry embossed paper or transparencies. If the adhesive will show through the pocket, attach it with machine stitching, mini-brads or eyelets instead.
