If there's not a skate park in your area, it might be difficult for you to find a good place to skateboard without getting in trouble. The last thing that you want to happen is the police arrest you for just having a good time, so follow these steps to prevent that.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Find out if there is a city ordinance about skateboarding. Take the initiative to ask city officials where you can skateboard without bothering anyone. They will probably appreciate that you are respectful.
Step2
Ask someone from the business if you are going to skateboard in a parking lot. Some people will allow it, some won't.
Step3
Understand people's reasons for not wanting you to skateboard on their property. Some are afraid that if you get hurt, you might sue. Therefore, they are trying to protect themselves. In other instances, people are aware that skateboarding can cause damage to rails and ledges. They simply want to prevent that from happening.
Step4
Look for signs that make it clear that property owners prohibit skateboarding in that area. If you see any, try to find a different place to go.
Step5
Be respectful if property owners or police ask you to leave a location. Arguing or being rude will not help the situation. Simply apologize, let them know that you weren't aware they don't allow skateboarding in the area, promise to not return and move on.
Step6
Talk to other people who skateboard in your area. Ask them where they skateboard, and whether they know of any places where people don't seem to mind them skateboarding.

Tips & Warnings

  • If there is a skate park nearby, that would probably be your best choice. You won't get in trouble for skateboarding there, and they'll have lots of fun ramps and things to use.
