Dueling in Yu-Gi-Oh is something for which you need to prepare. You have to make sure you have a good deck, keep track of the monsters you wish to use and so on. There's a lot to remember, so this eHow can help.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start building a deck of Yu-Gi-Oh cards as you prepare to duel. You can find these cards at stores or online. You can even build your deck by trading with others.

  2. Step 2

Propose a duel with someone with whom you don't share any Yu-Gi-Oh cards. You each should have 8,000 life points when the duel with Yu-Gi-Oh cards begins.

  3. Step 3

Lay your cards either on a Yu-Gi-Oh mat, or on a table. Remove five of the top cards, and hold them in your hand.

  4. Step 4

Read the backs of the cards. The ones marked "Spell Card," "Trap," "Card," "Magic Card" and so on are the ones you will use to make your attack. Be aware, however, that if you hold cards with more than the usual four starts, you will have to ask a tribune to summon the duel with Yu-Gi-Oh cards. In other words, if you wish to use a monster with eight starts, you will have to voluntarily sacrifice two monsters that are marked with four stars.

  5. Step 5

Place the injured cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh duel in a designated "graveyard."

  6. Step 6

Make an attack in a sneaky way when dueling with Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Keep your cards face down and turn them over only when you want to make an attack. The monster cards can only be face up or face down-face up for attack, and face down for defend.
