How to Create Recovery Discs for Windows Vista in HP Recovery Manager

If your computer crashes you can recover all the data that was stored on it if you made a set of recovery discs. HP computers provide a device called recovery manager that aids you in creating your recovery discs for windows vista operating system.

Instructions

      Turn on your computer. When it powers up click on the "Start" button located in the lower left hand corner of your screen.

      Click on "All Programs" then "PC Help and Tools" then "HP Recovery Manager." Recovery manager will open.

      Look at the options you will see on the screen. Select the option "Create a Set of Recovery Discs."

      Press next to continue the process. The HP recovery manager asks you to choose CD or DVD. Make your choice. The recovery manager calculates how many discs you need to back up your system.

      Insert the first disc in the disc drive when prompted. The backup creation process starts and you will see a progress bar on your screen.

      Place new discs in the disc drive when prompted. The entire recovery back up can take up to an hour so make sure you have time to do this.

      Number or otherwise label your CDs or DVDs during the process either before inserting each one or as you take each one out of the drive.

Tips & Warnings

  • New HP computers do not come with the standard recovery disc so be sure to complete your recovery discs as soon as possible so you have backup when you need it.
