Parents may limit the places their children want to go to socialize with friends or have fun. Even though your parents may seem overprotective it's only because they know the dangers out there and want to keep their kids safe. Going someplace not allowed by your parent is a tricky process, so onsider these steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Respect your parent's decision about not going to certain places. You may find that their trust in you increases. They may allow you to go next time because you showed a level of maturity that instills confidence in your judgment.
Step2
Find out why your parents are objecting to this place. Often it's due to your age and your parent's perceived lack of safety at the location. Look for ways to change any of these circumstances such as going with an older sibling or only going during daylight hours. Present your solution to your parents to change their minds.
Step3
Ask again. Even though they may have already said "no," new evidence and circumstances can change their minds. Explain why you feel the rules are unfair and negotiate tactics for changing it for future events.
Step4
Divide and conquer. There is always one parent who's more laid back with the rules. Speak to them alone and try to convince that parent to trust you. If they agree, enlist their help to get the other parent to give their permission too.
Step5
Get permission to spend the night at a friend's house. Go out to the place forbidden by your parents. This is the oldest trick in the book, so your parents can probably figure out you're trying to disobey their wishes.
Step6
Sneak out of the house. If you wait until your parents are asleep and quietly slip out of the house, make sure you tell a friend where you're going in case an emergency situation arises.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider their schedule. With busy working parents it may be possible to go out and come home before they get off work. Always make sure someone knows your whereabouts at all times.
  • Even the smartest kids can get caught when they break the rules. Going someplace not allowed can ruin your parents trust in you, leave you feeling guilty and put you in danger.
