How to Make a Plastic Book Cover

Making a plastic book cover lets you to enjoy original artwork and protects the book at the same time. Cut a plastic sheet large enough to cover the book with several inches extra on either side. Then, fold the excess plastic over and tape it in place.

Instructions

      Lay out the plastic and put your book down with both sides open. Cut the plastic so there are several inches showing on all sides of the book.

      Cut two notches in the plastic at each edge of the book spine. Cut to the book and no further.

      Fold the plastic down from the top and over the front of the book cover. Hold it in place.

      Pull the plastic at the side over the front of the book cover and tape it to the plastic you folded down from the top.

      Tug the plastic up from the bottom and tape it to the side of the plastic you secured in Step 4.

      Repeat Steps 2 through 5 to tape the cover on the other side of the book.

      Use a pencil to tuck the plastic over the spine and inside the book.

Tips & Warnings

  • The more plastic you leave around the book, the more surface you'll have to tape. Some people find the excess helpful while others find it bulky.

  • Embellish your plastic book cover by tucking your own artwork or favorite photographs inside the plastic before you tape it closed.
