Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the right racket for your game. If you tend to swing short, select a lighter and larger frame. Smaller heavier tennis rackets are typically used by more experienced players with fast and long swings.

  2. Step 2

Master the basic tennis service stroke. You want to be able to reliably throw a serve into the correct service box. Then begin increasing the spin and changing the rotation of the ball with each serve.

  3. Step 3

Toss the ball to prepare to hit it for the serve. The way you toss will affect the spin. Avoid looking at where you're going to spin the ball. Even a quick glance at the target will let your opponent know what you're going to do and make it difficult to disguise the spin of a serve in tennis.

  4. Step 4

Stamp your feet as you raise the ball in a toss before you hit it. The stamping can distract your opponent from watching your eye and arm movements, which can give away what type of spin you're planning to use and where the ball will land. Spins tend to emit distinctive sounds. Even if you've perfected the tennis poker face, the sound of the spin can give everything away. Stamping your feet can also cover the sound of the spin.
