How to Make French Toast Waffles

If you love French toast and you love waffles, you can have the best of both worlds with French toast waffles. Cooking them in a waffle maker makes the process extra easy, and the result is a crispy, yummy breakfast treat.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Milk
  • Melted butter
  • Sugar
  • Pure vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Large eggs
  • French bread
  1. Step 1

    Preheat the waffle iron while you prepare the ingredients. Place the milk, melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and eggs in a large mixing bowl and whisk it until it's completely blended.

  2. Step 2

    Put day old French bread slices in a 13 by 9-inch baking dish. Pour the mixture over the French bread, turning the slices once to coat them on both sides. Let the pan sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Step 3

    Spray the preheated waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray.

  4. Step 4

    Cook the French toast slices until they're done, about 3 to 5 minutes, and continue the process with the remaining slices.

  5. Step 5

    Serve the French toast waffles hot with butter and warm maple syrup.

Tips & Warnings
  • A bit of fresh orange or lemon zest adds a tangy variation to French toast waffles.
  • Substitute cocoa powder for half of the sugar, and you have delicious chocolaty french toast waffles.
