Rainbow Six: Vegas represents a leap forward from previous installments of the series. With the addition of the "Cover" button, there's now an added emphasis on playing smart. This new tactic allows you to fight terrorists like never before.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shield yourself with the "Cover" button. The "Cover" button is the most important feature change in Rainbow Six: Vegas. When you press it, your character will take cover behind the nearest object or wall, allowing you to lean around it to shoot. If you get in any sort of extended firefight, you need to be behind cover.

  2. Step 2

Stick with the assault rifles. Unless you're working in extremely close quarters, sniping at long range or need silencer capability, assault rifles will generally be the most effective weapon for the job. They have a decent rate of fire, long range and pack a powerful punch. Hit your enemies with short bursts. Since you start with a Colt 552 Commando, you will never be without one.

  3. Step 3

Use your team to do your dirty work. Your AI teammates are expendable, but if you die, it's "Game Over." Make use of the team commands to have your men clear rooms and lead points to draw enemy fire. If they become incapacitated, you can revive them with the syringe.

  4. Step 4

Watch your tactical map. The tactical map is critical to giving you good battlefield awareness. Keep watch over it out of the corner of your eye, and it will alert you to any terrorists you may not have spotted.

  5. Step 5

Pick up weapons and accessories on missions. For example, get the shield in the first stage of Calypso's Casino, or the stage selecting to the Downtown Vegas Mafia House and backtracking through the sewers.

  6. Step 6

Scope out situations beforehand with the snake cam. You can slip the snake cam under doors to see what enemies you will be facing once you go through. This will provide invaluable information and give you the drop on your opponents.

  7. Step 7

Blast through doors with breaching charges. Once you've understood the situation, have your team place some C4-breaching charges on the door. This will stun enemies on the other side, and injure and kill them if they're close enough. Be careful not to do this near any hostages.
