How to Make a Cat Bed From an Old Sweater

You can easily turn an old sweater into a cat bed for your feline pet. By tucking the sleeves inside the body of the sweater and filling it with an old pillow or pillow form, you create a cushy bed for your cat.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn the sweater inside out. Close the neck hole of the sweater by whip-stitching it shut. For a no-sew option, run an iron over fusible webbing.

  2. Step 2

Flip the sweater right-side out, leaving the arms tucked inside the body.

  3. Step 3

Stuff the sweater with a pillow form, an old pillow or quilt batting from your local craft store.

  4. Step 4

Shut the bottom of the sweater the same as you did the neck hole.

  5. Step 5

Fluff your cat bed and place in a location where your cat routinely sleeps.

Tips & Warnings
  • To encourage your cat to use her new cat bed, wear the sweater for an hour before you turn it into her bed. Your scent will attract her and make her feel safe and secure.
  • For a thinner cat bed, neatly fold an old towel and place it inside the sweater to act as the cushion.
  • Decorate the edges of your sweater by tying it shut with ribbon or yarn.
