How to Make a Domino Necklace

You can use a domino to make a distinctive, eye-catching necklace. You can paint a design on your new jewelry, or you can use rubber stamps to ink the design. Here's a simple necklace idea to get you started.

• Domino
• Bleach
• Fine-grit sandpaper
• Dremel tool
• Small Dremel drill bit
• Glue
• Jewelry findings for necklace
• Baby wipe
• Rubber stamps
• Inks in a variety of colors
• Embossing heat tool
• Varnish
• Small paintbrush

Instructions

1. Soak a domino in bleach overnight to remove the shiny coating. Rinse off the bleach. If you would rather, you can use a fine grit sandpaper to accomplish the same thing.

2. Use the Dremel tool to drill two small holes in the upper corners of the necklace. Or you can drill one small hole in the center top. Another option is to glue on a bail loop with a durable adhesive.

3. Cover the blank side of the domino with the ink you are using for the background color. Use the heat tool to set the ink. Color the sides and set the color by using the heat tool on them too.

4. Ink the stamp with the color of your choice. Apply the stamp design to the domino. Set it with the heat tool. If you make a mistake, you can wipe it off with the baby wipes.

5. Add any additional colors and stamps to the domino that you desire. Set each stamp with the heat tool.

6. Use a small paintbrush to varnish the finished domino with a clear coat of varnish. Make sure the varnish dries completely. Repeat with a second coat if desired.

7. Attach the domino to the necklace jewelry findings. You can connect it with O-rings. You might run a ribbon through the holes to finish the necklace or attach the domino to a chain.
