How to Purchase a Ticket Using Metra Vending Machines

You can purchase Metra tickets via a vending machine. These machines take all coins, except pennies, and bills $20 and smaller. However, the vending machine only gives change for $18 or less, and you get this change in coin form.

        Select the type of Metra ticket you would like to purchase by pressing the white button under your choice. They offer one way, weekend, ten ride and monthly tickets.

        Insert the amount of money displayed on the machine. If you insert more than the exact amount, collect your change from change dispenser. You won't receive cash for change; only coins up to $18.

        Take your printed Metra ticket. The screen then displays the original setting, and you can purchase another ticket if needed.
