A Podcast is a recorded audio file people post online for download. If you've gone though the creation process and have a finished podcast, you need to let listeners know about it by promoting your creation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Accompany your podcast entry with a written transcript or related article. Use search engine optimization to get your listing higher on a search list.

  2. Step 2

Submit your podcast in directories such as iTunes, Podcast Alley, Odeo and Yahoo Podcasts. List your website or podcast in other online directories and webrings to make sure you're seen.

  3. Step 3

Subscribe to your own podcast at every site possible. Find it on Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Tivo and anywhere else. When you subscribe you make your podcast easier for others to find. Also add a link or RSS feed to your MySpace, Facebook or other social networking page.

  4. Step 4

Interview others in your podcast and ask them to upload the podcast to their personal websites. This drives traffic for both of you and gives you both some free advertising.

  5. Step 5

Read online questions and blogs and listen to other podcasts. Post answers and comments related to your expert knowledge and post a link to your website or specific podcast. Let others know you're knowledgeable in your field and that you're offering additional answers on your site.

  6. Step 6

Create a press release or email list. If your podcast is informative, socially deviant or funny and ironic, include samples that show this in your release. Let friends and local media know what you expect when they tune in.

  7. Step 7

Advertise in the local newspaper, radio or television stations. There's no rule to podcast promotion, so do it any way you can, including on t-shirts, in fliers, through website tags or word of mouth.
