Your new home came with a programmable Lux thermostat. The good news is the programmable thermostat will save you money on your heating and cooling bills. The bad news is that programming the thermostat can make you feel like you have vapor lock. Relax, it's easy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove the thermostat body from the base plate. Set the system mode switch to "Heat" in the winter, "Cool" in summer or turn it to the "Off" position. Some deluxe thermostats switch modes automatically.

  2. Step 2

Place the fan mode switch in the "Auto" position to enable the fan to switch on and off when needed, or run it continuously by placing it in the "On" position.

  3. Step 3

Set the correct time and date. Change these settings by touching the displayed day of the week, then touching the up or down arrow to adjust. Touch the time and adjust it with the up or down arrow.

  4. Step 4

Set your weekly schedule with the touch screen. Touch the "Menu" button and then use the scroll function to begin "Set/Review" heat programs or "Set/Review" cool programs. Use the up or down arrows to navigate to "Mon Morn."

  5. Step 5

Change the time segments to suit your schedule using the arrow keys. Remember that the thermostats operate in 15-minute increments. One segment begins when another ends, but they can't overlap. Touch the "Yes" pad to confirm your segment changes, and then use the arrow keys to change the temperature setting for the segment. Touch "Yes" to confirm each change.

  6. Step 6

Continue setting time segments and temperatures for each day of the week, if the thermostat has that capability. Use the "Copy" button to copy the previous day's schedule to the next day, if you want it to remain the same.

  7. Step 7

Touch the "Exit" button at the end of programming to return to the main screen. Reattach the programming module body to the base plate of the thermostat.

Tips & Warnings
  • Write down your desired schedule and corresponding temperatures before you begin.
  • Some Lux thermostats are programmable for each day of the week, some are programmable for weekdays, plus Saturday and Sunday and some only have separate programs for weekends and weekdays.
  • Go to the Lux Products Corporation website to download a guide for programming your particular thermostat for more help. See the resources section.
