How to Pick up a Puppy
Learning how to pick up your puppy is an important part of its formative care. Lifting a puppy must be done properly to support his body and keep him feeling safe. Support your puppy's chest and bottom when you pick him up and hold him close to you.

1
Lift your puppy when she's in a standing position. By waiting until your puppy is standing on all four legs, you minimize the pressure you place on the puppy when you pick her up.
-
2
Put one hand under his chest and one under his bottom.
-
-
3
Use even pressure to lift the puppy off of the ground so she doesn't slide forward or backward out of your hands.
-
4
Keep your hands even as you raise the puppy off of the ground.
-
5
Snuggle the puppy to your chest. Close contact like this helps him feel safe and well cared for.
