Step 1
Plan enough games so that the kids don't run out of things to do. It's better to have too many games than to run out of things to do.
-
Step 2
Create a list of the games you will play. Know how long each game will take and what you need to play each of them. Gather the items before the party and put the parts for each game into a separate bag for easy access.
-
Step 3
Research the rules of each game. Explain the rules clearly and be ready for any questions that may arise. Ask the kids to keep quiet as you explain the game and then ask if everyone understands.
-
Step 4
Ensure your games are age appropriate. You don't want games that are too difficult for young children or games that will bore older kids. Watch as the kids play and stop the game if anyone looks unhappy or confused.
-
Step 5
Remain flexible with your rules. Let the kids change the game a bit. Being in charge doesn't mean you aren't open to new ideas. Take the lead but let the kids play their way.
-
Step 6
Keep control of the game and make sure everyone is included equally. You don't want anyone getting rough or too silly, which may lead to accidents. Calm the kids when they get too excited.
