The most popular coffee-flavored liqueur in the U.S., Kahlua, originated in Mexico in 1936. The other star of the Happy Ending cocktail is Grand Marnier, a blend of cognacs infused with orange, first created in France in 1880. Together, with vodka as a base, these two liqueurs create a Happy Ending to any evening.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vodka
  • Coffee flavored liqueur
  • Orange liqueur
  • Orange twist
  • Ice
  • Rocks or high ball glasses
  1. Step 1

Use a shot glass and measure two shots of vodka. Pour it into a rocks glass, which holds 8 to 10 oz., or a highball glass, which holds 10 to 12 oz. Choose the glass sized based on how much ice is to be added.

  2. Step 2

Measure two shots of coffee flavored liqueur. Add to the vodka.

  3. Step 3

Pour about a half-shot of orange liqueur. Add to the glass. Use a cocktail stirrer to mix the drink well in the glass.

  4. Step 4

Add the desired amount of ice. Garnish with a twist of orange peel. Add a sprig of mint for extra color.

Tips & Warnings
  • Store the vodka and the liqueurs in the freezer to chill them and reduce the amount of ice necessary to chill the drink, which can water it down. Because of the alcohol content, they will not freeze.
  • Always drink responsibly. Appoint a designated driver or call a cab or a friend for a ride home.
