Throw pillows don't have to be the same boring color to match your décor. Put some different colors together and jazz up your rooms. You probably have some old fabric sitting around that would be just the thing to make a funky looking pillow.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Gather your fabric scraps. Look for pieces that go with your décor, yet stand out. It doesn't matter if the scrap isn't big enough for one whole side of the pillow.

  2. Step 2

Determine the size. Piece together your fabric scraps. As you cut the pieces, remember to leave enough along each edge for a ¼-inch seam. You can piece together another funky design for the back of the pillow or leave it plain.

  3. Step 3

Sew all of the small pieces together to form a square, rectangle or circle. If you wish to add trim or sew on buttons, now is the time to do that.

  4. Step 4

Place the front and back pieces of the throw pillow with the right sides together. Line up the edges.

  5. Step 5

Sew around the edge of the pillow about three inches from the corner. Backstitch. Continue sewing to the corner, and then raise the presser foot to pivot if you are making a square or rectangular pillow. Sew to the next corner and repeat. Continue until you are within 3 inches of your beginning stitches. Backstitch.

  6. Step 6

Turn the pillow right side out. Push the stuffing into the corners of the pillow first. Then stuff the rest of the pillow.

  7. Step 7

Thread the needle. Whipstitch the opening closed.
