Popping a flower petal is a neat trick that can entertain children in a garden. Like making a grass stem whistle, making a flower petal pop is a great way to show people you have too much time on your hands.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a flower petal with somewhat wide petals and a small indentation in the center, like a rose petal. If you can't see the indentation of the petal as it sits on your hand, then the petal may be too old. Find a fresher petal to pop.

  2. Step 2

Close your right hand to make a fist. Squeeze gently and leave a small hole instead of completely balling up your fingers.

  3. Step 3

Lay the rose petal over the hole at the side of your fist with the petal's indention pointing down. It should lie like a bowl.

  4. Step 4

Hit your right fist with the palm of your left hand.

  5. Step 5

Continue to hit your fist with your left palm until you hear a pop. Check the petal for a hole in the center. If you're doing the trick consistently, the hole will always be exactly in the center of the rose petal after it pops. If your hole is off-center, you may need to adjust your aim.
