When playing "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion," you'll spend much of your time on making your character as powerful as possible. The best way to do this is by leveling up properly. This involves planning from the very beginning, before you even complete any quests.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a race that corresponds with your style of play. Examine their strengths and weaknesses.

  2. Step 2

Make your character look amazing. It doesn't effect the gameplay at all, but you want a character who looks cool when you find more powerful armor and when you play in the third-person view.

  3. Step 3

Choose the appropriate birthsign. When you are asked what stars you were born under in the first part of the game, look at the different attributes. Choose one that corresponds with your character's strengths and weaknesses.

  4. Step 4

Create a custom class to choose your character's favored attributes and major skills. Choose attributes that correspond with your skills as a player. You want to choose skills that are easy to level up so you can do it quickly. These skills might include Armorer, Alchemy, Acrobatics, Sneak, Speechcraft, Block and at least one class of armor or weapon.

  5. Step 5

Spend time leveling up your skills. For the major skills mentioned in Step 4, there are quick and easy ways level them up, which levels up your character.

  6. Step 6

Level up wisely. When your character reaches another level, you can choose 3 attributes to level up. If any have bonuses next to them, choose those, as they will quickly make your character more powerful.

  7. Step 7

Buy training whenever possible. It's worth the gold you spend on training from other characters to make your character more powerful.
