The kunai knife was constructed from a farming instrument that was used in China centuries ago. These harmless tools were regularly sharpened down and turned into weapons for self-defense. They were also used by mountain climbers.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Rectangle construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Duct tape
  • Unsharpened Pencil

Step1
Use one sheet of construction paper or two stacked atop each other. Place the rectangle sheet of construction paper flat lengthwise. Fold it in by taking the right upper corner down towards the lower left corner, making a point at the upper right corner. A triangle results.
Step2
Cut off the excess paper at the bottom of the construction paper so that a triangle is the sole shape.
Step3
Fold the triangle in half where the left and right corners directly opposite one another are placed, one on top of the other. Two smaller triangles result with the crease acting as a side for each one.
Step4
Take the left hand side of the triangle and bring it to the middle of crease comprising the two smaller triangles. The left slanted edge of the triangle is aligned with the crease. Continue to fold over and over again until you reach the right side of the triangle. Make the paper into an ice cream cone shape.
Step5
Fold flaps at the top of the cone, or kunai, that result from the repeated folding, down inside of it. Tuck them inside one another.
Step6
Secure the flaps into place with duct tape.
Step7
Open the top of the kunai and insert the pencil inside of it. Wrap tape around the point of the cone, or kunai, to secure it and the pencil together. Throw it in much the way you would a paper airplane and see how much distance and height you can attain.
