Step 1
Pick out a few outfits and your overall look in advance. The day of the shoot you should be prepared with garment bags and makeup and hair supplies tucked into travel bags. Choose outfits that accentuate your positive features and make you feel good about yourself.
-
Step 2
Style your hair and makeup to fit the overall theme of the shoot. Choose makeup that is light and natural; the agents want to see your face, not the makeup. Style your hair so it works with your makeup and clothes, not against it. You want to look a complete package.
-
Step 3
Use backgrounds that are plain and uncluttered. Choose a brightly colored wall or an empty park. Use your imagination and personal interests to decide what type of setting shows you off the best. Go for a professional, clean look; make sure you can't see your computer desk or couch in the shot.
-
Step 4
Add props if they'll work well in the photo. Chairs, park benches, purses, sunglasses or even pets make great props if you use them correctly. Use a variety of props rather than just one, in case it doesn't turn out the way you'd hoped.
-
Step 5
Keep moving during the photo shoot. Try different poses and facial expressions, ranging from happy to sad. Once the photos are developed, you can see which poses you do best and which you need to work on.
-
Step 6
Allow time for background, wardrobe and prop changes. However, a great photo shoot doesn't have to take a long time--make the most out of the time you have.
