Flying discs were once used as weapons (much like the yo-yo) and evolved into an outdoor sporting activity. The most well-known flying discs get their name from the Frisbie Pie Company which distributed its pies in tins that children would throw. Making your own Frisbee-like flying disc out of paper plates is a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper plates
  • Glue
  1. Step 1

Cut out the center portion of the paper plate in a circle. This will leave a hole in the center of the plate, leaving only the outer ring portion. Do this to two paper plates.

  2. Step 2

Use a small amount of white glue or crafting glue and run a bead of glue all the way around one paper plate ring. Place the glue on the inner portion of the paper plate ring.

  3. Step 3

Put the other paper plate upside down on the freshly glued paper plate. Gently push the 2 plates together until the glue adheres both plates together firmly when dried.

  4. Step 4

Add more paper plates to add more weight. The first paper plate product is light and may need additional support by gluing additional plates on top of the other plates until it becomes too heavy to fly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Color the paper plate Frisbee with crayons or markers for a designed look.
  • Use heavier paper plates made of Styrofoam or heavy cardboard for a stiffer disc.
