A caveman is one of the easiest tricks in the skateboarding book. So it's a good place for beginners to start getting comfortable with the skateboard. Basically, in a caveman, you drop the skateboard onto the ground and jump on it. Your feet will hit the board before the skateboard wheels hit the floor.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Skateboard
  1. Step 1

Hold your skateboard in your left hand to begin the caveman trick. Make sure you hold the board at the front edge with your fingers all on the underside and your thumb on the top. The top of the skateboard should be nearest you.

  2. Step 2

Use your shoulder to gently swing the skateboard in front of you. Keep the board's top facing you. It's important that your skateboard is in this position in order to successfully pull off the caveman trick.

  3. Step 3

Swing the board back towards you. Again, keep the skateboard in the same position.

  4. Step 4

Drop the skateboard as the wheels start aligning with the ground. This will happen on the back swing, just after your board becomes perpendicular with the ground.

  5. Step 5

Jump and land with both feet on the skateboard, and you've successfully completed the caveman trick.

  6. Step 6

Keep practicing, and soon you'll be able to go from a standing caveman to a moving caveman.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you practice this trick on a solid, flat surface. As you master it more and more, you can try doing a caveman off of uneven surfaces, but keep it simple to start.
