How to Report a Crime Online in the UK
Advances in approaches to community policing of minor crimes now allow people to easily and, most importantly, safely report crimes online in the UK. Online crime reporting gives you a reliable method to report a crime you witness without putting you in danger of becoming a victim of retribution.

Gather as much information as you can about the crime, starting with the location, date, nature of the crime and any suspects that you may know. If the crime is one of vandalism or theft, you should try to take a photo of the crime scene so police can use it in their investigations.

Use the UK non-profit service Crimestoppers to anonymously report a crime that you've witnessed or know about by going to the Crimestoppers-UK site and then clicking the "Giving Information" tab on the navigation menu. From there, select the "Give information online" and fill out the form to send your crime report over a secure connection (see Resources below).

Report crime online to your local metropolitan police by visiting your local police force's website. Check out the London Metropolitan Police's website for an example of how to report online in the UK (see Resources below). In almost all cases, you should make sure the crime is a minor crime like theft or vandalism, or is a hate crime.

Go to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds to report any crime against wildlife. Fill in the form that you can find on the RSPB site's "Our Work" section. Navigate to "Wildlife and the Law" under the "Policy" section of "Our Work" and from there select the "Report a Wildlife Crime." Make sure you put as much information as possible, including your details, so the RSPB can follow up (see Resources below).
