Step 1
Face your partner. Grasp each other's fingertips lightly. Generally, the man's hands turn palm-down, while the woman's are palm-up.
-
Step 2
Begin the Mojito as you rock back on your right foot if you are the woman, or rock forward on your left foot if you are the man.
-
Step 3
Cross in front of your partner in three steps if you are the woman. Begin with your left foot. You should end up on the opposite side from which you started the dance.
-
Step 4
Pivot over your left shoulder if you are the man. Continue to perform the basic salsa step outlined in Step 2 as you turn.
-
Step 5
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 as both partners continually switch places throughout the dance. This pair of crossing moves comprises the Mojito.
-
Step 1
Lift your right arm up and over the woman's head as she performs the cross step detailed in Step 3.
-
Step 2
Bring the same arm around the back of your head as the woman performs the second cross, when she crosses back to the side on which she began.
-
Step 3
Twirl your right arm around and over your head, and stroke your hair as you bring your right hand down while you perform the second cross, if you are the woman. This is a popular basic salsa move.
