How to Pretend to be Asleep

Sometimes you just don't want to be disturbed, so pretend to be asleep. It isn't that difficult to do. Close your eyes and don't answer when someone calls you. If you have to be somewhere this isn't the right thing to do, but if you really feel bad and don't want to be disturbed, just don't make a sound, unless it's snoring, and lay very still.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Lay down and make sure the lights are out. If you sleep with a TV on but muted, make sure you do both of these.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you are in the position that you usually sleep in, on your back, on your stomach or even on your side. This is important, because even if you change during the night you should be in the position you normally find yourself when you wake.

  3. Step 3

Fix the covers in whatever way you have them when you are sleeping. If you usually have your arm or foot out, fix them that way. Everything should be the way it would be if you were asleep.

  4. Step 4

Regulate your breathing so it seems like you are sleeping. You can even snore a little if you know that you usually snore.

  5. Step 5

Be sure not to move if someone is in your room. You want to lie perfectly still. If they shake you to wake you, start muttering and say how miserable you feel, you just want to sleep, and hopefully they will get the message and go away.

Tips & Warnings
  • The funny thing about pretending to sleep is you may actually fall asleep.
