How to Get a Windows Live Mail Account

Windows Live Mail lets you see all of your Hotmail and Gmail accounts at one time. Add Google mail as well from certain types of Google mail accounts. All mail is filtered and virus protected. Windows Messenger is accessible from your Windows Live Mail inbox. Windows Live Mail is a convenient way to keep up with your mail no matter how many email accounts you have.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Log on to the Windows Live home page and click the "Get Windows Live" button at the bottom of the page.

  2. Step 2

    Select from the list that provides the features you want included in your Windows Live Mail account. Available features include a sign-in assistant, email, Messenger, photo gallery, writer and a toolbar.

  3. Step 3

    Click the "Install" button at the bottom of the page to install the free software that gives you access to the Windows Live Mail features you selected.

  4. Step 4

    If you already have an account with MSN, Microsoft Passport, Hotmail or Windows Messenger, you already have your Windows Live ID. Use your user name and password to log directly into Windows Live. Sign up for a Windows Live ID by clicking on the "Sign up" button.

  5. Step 5

    Provide the required personal information and click "I accept" at the bottom of the page to accept the Windows Live terms of service and get your Windows Live ID. Sign in to your Windows Live Mail account.
