If you're looking to make a sword, consider making it out of bamboo. Bamboo is a strong material that can be formed into a sword-like shape by carving it in the right areas. Be careful while using the bamboo sword, since it is just like any other weapon and can hurt someone if poked or prodded.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Find pieces of bamboo by searching at your local nursery or garden center. If you can't find bamboo at your local retailer, several US-based companies sell bamboo online. Buy a few pieces so you have enough to work with when creating your bamboo sword.
Step2
Cut the bamboo to the length of the sword you want. Usually the length of a sword is anything from 2 to 3 feet long. Choose how long you want it and use a measuring tape and marker to put the cutting mark.
Step3
Start carving the end of the sword that is the thinnest. Use a pocket knife or swiss army knife to carve off bamboo pieces. Do this step after you have cut your sword into the length you want. Use the thick part as the handle of your sword.
Step4
Make sure the thin part of your bamboo sword is sharp. Use an army knife to cut down the end to a sharp point and to the size you want. This bamboo sword will work like a stabbing type of knife instead of cutting like steel and metal.
Step5
Tie some rope around the thick handle of the bamboo sword. This rope will help you keep a grip on the bamboo sword when using it. Tie it around five to ten times until you have enough of a firm grip.
