People of all ages have latched on to the iPod's intuitive controls and signature style. To keep up with growing demands and technological advances, Apple pumps out a new version of the iPod every year or so. If you're interested in upgrading your iPod but aren't sure what to do with your old one, read on to learn how you can recycle it and save money on your new purchase.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Ask your friends and family if any of them want your used iPod. This is the simplest form of recycling that many people often overlook when buying new gadgets.
Step2
Head to the Apple Recycling website and follow the links provided to reach the iPod Recycling website.
Step3
Fill out the iPod recycling form with your address, the number of iPods you'll be recycling and the type of pre-printed label you want. Apple conveniently offers to provide the shipping materials as well as the packing label for free.
Step4
Wait for the pre-printed packing label to come in the mail.
Step5
Package up your iPod. You can use your own materials or Apple's, but make sure the parcel is secure. A good tape job and a bit of bubble wrap will protect your iPod from the rigors of the journey.
Step6
Take your iPod to the nearest US Post Office for shipping.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use these same steps to recycle your cell phone. Apple accepts any type of phone and will still provide you with free mailing supplies.
