A hair knot is a great hairstyle for casual or formal wear. Medium to long hair is needed for best results. You can create one large classic knot. Alternatively, you can make many knots to make elaborate hairdos for weddings and other special occasions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Boar bristle brush
  • Shine serum
  • Covered elastic band
  • Bobby pins or hair clips

Step1
Wash your hair a day or least several hours before you create your hair knot. Freshly washed hair is more difficult to work with in this hairdo.
Step2
Brush your hair thoroughly and apply a shine serum to avoid flyaways. A boar bristle brush is best for creating shine.
Step3
Create a ponytail in back of your head with a covered elastic band. Divide your ponytail in two and pull the hair taut. Take a long strand from near the band and wrap it around the elastic band. Bobby pin the strand into place and this will help secure your elastic band.
Step4
Twist your ponytail to the right from the elastic band to the ends and wrap it around the band starting on the left side of the band. Use a little shine serum on your hands before you twist to prevent flyaways.
Step5
Tuck the ends underneath the knot and secure the sides of the knot with small or large bobby pins, depending on the heaviness of your hair.
Step6
Spray your hair slightly. Smooth loose hairs into place.

Tips & Warnings

  • If bobby pins don't work well for you, try hair clips.
