Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Download the latest edition of your torrent client and even try one of the better liked clients such as Torrent Comet or the original BitTorrent for a client with improved download speeds.
Step2
Configure your client for the right upload speed by first using a bandwidth tester such as the one at DLSReports.com. Make a note of the upload bandwidth you receive and pay attention to whether the speed is in kb/s, which is kilobits per second, or kB/s, which is kilobytes per second. Then set your optimal torrent upload at 80 percent of your total upload bandwidth.
Step3
Use your maximum download speed from your bandwidth test to calculate your optimal download for your torrent client by setting your client's download setting to 95 percent of your maximum download.
Step4
Check the seed to peer ratio of torrents you download so you select torrents that have the highest possible ration of seeders (people who source the content you're trying to download) to peers (people who are downloading the content). A higher ratio will greatly improve your torrent download speed.
Step5
Turn off your default firewall if you're running a Windows operating system since the Windows firewall make torrent downloading slower. Instead, opt for a free firewall to replace your stock Windows protection.
