Three-dimensional videos are special films that look 3D when you wear red and blue glasses. These films are popular across the globe, and fun to make. Make your own 3D movies at home with this method.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set up two cameras 2 to 8 inches apart. Three inches apart is ideal, but the greater the distance between the cameras, the more startling the 3D effect.

  2. Step 2

Import the video from each camera into a video editing program. Make sure your video editing program can use overlays.

  3. Step 3

Add a red overlay to one video and a blue overlay to the other.

  4. Step 4

Layer the videos on top of each other so you can see them both together. It should look like you're seeing double.

  5. Step 5

Export the 3D video and save it in your preferred format. Check to see if the format is playable on a variety of computers.

  6. Step 6

Watch the 3D video using 3D glasses. These can often be found at movie theaters and other places that show 3D films.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're having trouble making your 3D video pop, try making the blue and red overlays darker or lighter.
  • Your videos must be in exact sync with each other to achieve a 3D effect. Use a level to make sure the cameras are filming from the same height when creating your 3D video.
