How to Make a Habanero Margarita

Many people go to a Mexican restaurant for the great margaritas. For those who like really spicy food, a habanero margarita would be perfect. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Habanero pepper
  • Bottle of tequila
  • Salt
  • Triple sec
  • Lime
  • Margarita mix
  • Glass

      Infuse the liquor. This has to be done overnight. Cut the habanero pepper into small pieces and drop them into the tequila. Place the bottle of tequila with the habaneros in the refrigerator and chill for 24 to 48 hours. This blends the hot, spicy flavor within the tequila.

      Prepare the glass for the tequila. Wet the rim of the glass, then dip it into a plate of salt. The salt should stick to the rim of the glass.

      Add about 1/3 triple sec to a blender. Squeeze a half of a lime into the blender and throw away the rind. Next, add the tequila and margarita mix. Mix well. Add some ice cubes if you want a frozen margarita.

      Pour into the salted glass and add a lime wedge to the rim of the glass. Serve and enjoy your habanero margarita.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not drink and drive. Habanero margaritas are very intoxicating because of the tequila.

  • Do not drink a habanero margarita if you cannot handle hot foods. The habanero pepper is one of the hottest peppers, so a habanero margarita is very hot and spicy. You may need a glass of water to help you drink these margaritas.
