Ranging in RuneScape is the combat ability to hit the target without in turn being hit. This is a much better approach to combat than techniques like melee where a player loses energy and health. Pure is used to describe a character without any extra characteristics, like defense. Play in Fast XP for a quicker game.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide which weapon to use to fully increase your range. The oak shortbow is the best weapon to begin the pure range process. Buy as many arrows as possible. You should buy at least 5000 arrows. You may need to sell the remains of your attack victims to buy the arrows.

  2. Step 2

Begin increasing range to a pure range status by using the oak and then willow shortbow. Kill chickens (1 hit point) and cows (3 hit points). This will easily move you up to a Level 20. Collect the chicken feathers and sell them to buy more arrows.

  3. Step 3

Switch to better armor and more potent weapons between levels 20 and 40. Kill as many goblins as possible along the way. They drop plenty of treasure and other valuable items. Members have more options for increasing their range skills.

  4. Step 4

Find a safe spot and kill monsters whose range is at least five above your own. Fight monsters with a low range attack. A monster that has little reach or cannot attack at a distance is a perfect target and ideal for increasing range.

  5. Step 5

Switch to blue and then red armor. Kill Moss Giants and Hobgoblins. They will increase your range to 60 or above. Switch to the Black D-hide armor and use the Crystal Bow to increase your range beyond 75.

  6. Step 6

Hunt down the Fire Giants, Blue Dragons and Black Dragons. Avoid the Metal Dragons. When you reach the coveted 99 Level you can proudly wear the Cape of Achievement. Get out their and create a pure ranger and enjoy the journey.
