Everyone wants to cheer for a winner and few will stick with a consistent loser. The exception to that rule would be Chicago Cubs fans, who haven't celebrated a championship in 100 years. The Boston Red Sox fans were in the same boat until 2004 when they won a World Series, ending an 86-year drought. Before then, there were only the die-hard fans. Now, there are bandwagoning BoSox fans everywhere.

Things You'll Need:

  • Some knowledge of sports
  • Media sources such as ESPN or the local newspaper to track scores
  1. Step 1

Pick a team that has enjoyed consistent success lately. For example, the Boston Red Sox in baseball, San Antonio Spurs in basketball and the New England Patriots in football.

  2. Step 2

Purchase memorabilia and clothes to represent your love for your newfound winning team. The more the better.

  3. Step 3

Research the team a little bit. At least know who the star players are so you're not totally oblivious when the true fans talk about the team.

  4. Step 4

Watch the team you are bandwagoning. As a bandwagon fan, you don't have to go to the stadium to watch your team play. Just hang out at a local bar or even in your own living room. Just remember to be wearing your team's jersey when its playing.

  5. Step 5

Cheer when your team wins. Be serious about it. Act as if you've cheered that team since you were a little kid and you've never missed a game. The more passionate you are, the more believable it will be.

  6. Step 6

Don't be ashamed of being a bandwagoning fan. As previously mentioned, everyone likes a winner. Just remember when your team falls into a slump, you can always cheer for the new winning team. That's what makes bandwagoning so fun. You can't lose.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are a true fan of a particular sports team, don't go bandwagoning with a rival team. For example, a New York Yankees fan should never attempt to bandwagon with the Boston Red Sox.
  • Bandwagon fans are usually hated by the true fans who pour their hearts into the team, win or lose.
