How to Change Idle Status in Trillian

Trillian Instant Messenger will change your idle status if you are away from your computer for a certain length of time. You can choose to let Trillian do this or to never do this, no matter how long you have been away from your computer. Use the directions below to help you tell Trillian if they can change your idle status.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Trillian 2 Instant Messenger
Step1
Start Trillian Instant Messenger and allow it to load until you see the Trillian icon in the desktop tray of your computer screen.
Step2
Right-click on the Trillian program icon that lies in the desktop tray, choose "Options" from the shortcut menu and select "Preferences" to open up the "Preferences" dialog box.
Step3
Select the word "Events" under the "General" settings that reside on the left side of the dialog box. The event settings will now be displayed on the right hand side of the dialog box for you to modify.
Step4
Locate the "Idle Monitor" section of the "Events" settings in the "Preferences" dialog box. It is the first section of settings displayed on the right side of the "Preferences" dialog box.
Step5
Choose the radio button in front of "Based on when I'm using my mouse or keyboard" to tell Trillian to change you to idle status if you have not used or mouse or keyboard in a certain period of time. Choose "Never automatically set me away or idle" to tell Trillian to never change you to idle no matter how long you have been away from your computer.
Step6
Press the "OK" button to apply the changes you have made regarding your idle status in Trillian and close the "Preferences" dialog box.
