How to Change Startup Options in Trillian

You have several options that you can enable or disable when Trillian Instant Messenger is first started. You can choose to display certain windows, hide your contact list or prompt a warning if you start Trillian more than once. Follow the directions below to find out how you can change the startup options for Trillian.

      Start Trillian Instant Messenger and allow it to load until you see the Trillian icon in your desktop tray.

      Right-click on the Trillian icon in the desktop tray so a shortcut menu appears, point to "Options" and click on "Preferences" to open the "Preferences" dialog box.

      Select "Basic Options" from the "General" settings on the left side of the "Preferences" dialog box. The general settings will be displayed on the right side of the dialog box.

      Locate the "Trillian Startup" section of the "Preferences" dialog box "General" settings. It is the second section from the top.

      Add a checkbox to the "Show loading window" to open a window that shows the progress of Trillian being loaded. The "Show Connection Manager" option can be checked to display the connection manager after Trillian is loaded and when you log into a profile. "Hide Contact List" hides the Trillian contact list by default. The "Prompt on two instances of Trillian" option will give you a warning when you start more than one instance of Trillian.

      Click the "OK" button to save your startup options selection and exit the "Preferences" dialog box. The next time you start Trillian these options will take effect.
