A slash zero is often used in technical documents to make the difference between the letter "O" and the number "0" more apparent. It's possible to insert a slash zero into your Microsoft Word 2003 document by creating a field code to do so. Follow the steps below to insert a slash zero in a new or existing Word document.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Microsoft Word 2003

Step1
Start Microsoft Word 2003, and open a document from your files to which you want to include a slash zero or create a new blank document.
Step2
Click in your document to place the insertion point where you would like to place the slash zero.
Step3
Use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+F9 to insert a pair of field braces where you have indicated. Verify that the insertion point is not in between the two field braces. The field braces must be entered into the document so Word knows you are entering a field.
Step4
Type "eq \o (0,/)" (without the quotation marks) inside the pair of field braces. This is the code that will actually create your slash zero.
Step5
Use the keyboard shortcut of SHIFT+F9 to display the field results of the code you have just typed into the Word document. The slash zero will now be displayed where you have just entered the field code.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use the keyboard shortcut of SHIFT+F9 to toggle between field codes and field results within your Word document.
  • You can use this field code as many times as you need to insert as many slash zeros into your document as you need.
