Document properties, such as summary information and statistics, can be changed for any Microsoft Word 2003 document. If you use this feature on a regular basis, you can set Word to prompt you to verify the document properties each time you save a document. Follow the steps below to set up this option so you can control your Word document properties.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Microsoft Word 2003

Step1
Start Microsoft Word 2003 and open an existing document from your files or create a new blank document.
Step2
Choose the "Tools" menu and click on "Options" to open the "Options" dialog box. This dialog box contains all the specific options you can set for Word.
Step3
Select the "Save" tab at the top of the "Options" dialog box to display the save options for Microsoft Word.
Step4
Click to place a check in the checkbox before the phrase "Prompt for Document Properties" in the "Save As" section of the "Options" dialog box so this feature is enabled.
Step5
Use the "OK" button to close the "Options" dialog box and save your settings to have a prompt come up asking you to verify document properties each time you save a document.
Step6
Choose the "File" menu and click on "Save" or "Save As." You will get a dialog box that has the file name as the name of the dialog box. Within this dialog box you can control any of the Word document properties that relate to your current document. This includes summary information about your document, as well as statistics and any detailed settings related to your document.
