How to Draw Naruto Sprites

Naruto sprites, although seemingly simplistic looking spritelike animations of popular Naruto characters, are in fact complex video game renderings in pixelated 2D. Drawing a sprite requires a basic drawing ability, hand eye coordination and patience.

Things You'll Need

  • 2D Naruto sprite images
  • Regular and graphing paper
  • Colored pencils
  • Paint software

Instructions

    • 1

Pick a Naruto sprite image to practice drawing. Rough sketch the sprite on paper as a basic image with your colored pencils. If you don't have basic drawing ability, try a tracing method (See "How To Draw Manga With a Tracing Method," under Related eHows).

    • 2

Once you have mastered drawing the sprite, redraw the sprite as a full page design on graphing paper.

    • 3

Compare your two images. The graphing paper imitates a pixelated 2D image as it would appear up close and in detail in a 2D drawing program.

    • 4

Open up your basic Paint program and write your name. Click "View" and then "Zoom." Your name no longer appears written as a straight line, but is broken into tiny blocks or "pixels." Click "View" and then "Show Grid," and the page changes to look like a piece of graphing paper that breaks the entire image into blocks.

    • 5

Create a new page, and begin drawing your sprite. When finished, click "View," "Zoom" and then "Show Grid." The sprite has been rendered as a basic image in pixels in 2D. Save it as a BMP or GIF image in an example file for future reference.

    • 6

Edit the grid image pixel by pixel to create a more detailed or colorful image. Patience is key as editing pixel by pixel is incredibly time consuming. Use a better 2D rendering program to control aspects such as color restrictions and screen resolution for sprite contest submissions, YouTube videos or for your own video game creations.
