It's about a million degrees in the shade, and the humidity is even worse. Hot weather can cause your tresses to look limp and flat and and put your hairstyle on the fast track to disaster. But with a few tricks, you can look gorgeous no matter what the temperature. Here are a few ideas to get cool and carefree hairstyles for hot weather days.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Condition your hair religiously during hot weather to protect your locks and give a great foundation to your hairstyle. Choose products for your particular hair type. Plan on using a deep conditioning product weekly during the hot weather season.

  2. Step 2

Apply a light gel while your hair is still damp. If you have short hair, comb it back and you're ready to go. Add a few pins if needed. A gel can moisturize your hair and help protect it from getting too dry in super hot weather.

  3. Step 3

Braid longer hair for a traditional hot weather hairstyle. One braid is classier than two. Pull your hair back into a low ponytail before braiding. If you braid your hair when it's wet and let it dry all day, you can take the braid out and enjoy beautiful, natural curls for your evening hairstyle.

  4. Step 4

Twist your hair into a variation of the classic French twist. Simply gather all your hair at the crown of your head; then twist and pin. Pull up a few of the stragglers, and pin them around the twist. Let a few tendrils dangle by your ears. This style can work for both medium length and longer hair.

  5. Step 5

Wear a loose and messy bun to stay cool, yet look chic. Pull your hair back at the nape and twist into a loose bun. Use hairpins if you want a more secure feel to your hairstyle.

  6. Step 6

Cover your hair for the easiest hot weather hairstyle of all. Wear a trendy hat or scarf, and don't worry about your hair!

Tips & Warnings
  • The sun will burn your scalp. Wear sunscreen on your part during hot weather. If your scalp does get burned, avoid hair dryers and styling products with alcohol until it heals.
