Step 1
Hold the hockey stick the opposite way that you usually do. It may feel strange, but grip the stick the exact same way as you usually do but switch your hands.

Step 2
Make sure your hand placement is the same as it usually is. Place your hands on the same spots on the hockey stick, the same distance apart. This will help you have control.

Step 3
Practice hitting the puck. Expect it to feel really strange. Think about it. You've been shooting one way for so long, so it's understandable.

Continue hitting slap shots until it becomes more natural. You may feel less powerful, because you're not used to your weaker hand being the driving force behind your strength.

Step 5
Spend equal time practicing with each of your hockey sticks. You can't spend time practicing being ambidextrous for one week then ignore it for months. Every time you play, switch up your sticks and your grips to become truly ambidextrous.
